Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia – Kids' Corner

A Federal Institution’s Mandate, Finally Made Real.

Foundation, Experience & Campaign Sprint
The outcome

Kids’ Corner: a dedicated website and animated video series, shaped with children, parents and family law experts, that closed the gap between the Court’s legal obligations and its ability to deliver on them. For the first time, children whose families are in court have one place to get clear, age-appropriate answers, transforming how Australia’s family law system engages with its most vulnerable stakeholders.

Strategic logic‍

The Court had a mandate to place children at the centre of family law proceedings. Legislation demanded it. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child required it. But the system had no practical way to deliver it, and children remained confused about decisions that would shape their lives. Reaching them meant getting it right with one of the most sensitive audiences there is. So we started by listening, consulting children, parents and family law experts to understand what kids actually ask, feel and struggle with. We chose animation because research shows it helps children engage and understand, then tested the creative for comprehension and emotional sensitivity. The result is Kids’ Corner, a website built around children’s own questions, stories, feelings and the words they’ll hear, with animated explainers at its heart. We turned institutional obligation into operational reality, giving the Court the tools, platform and credibility to finally fulfil its mandate, while creating something children can actually use.
