Messy was brought on board to create an identity for Mat Recordings and to design Kate Monroe’s Mat Black Album. We set out to produce a clean and minimalist design to gain maximum cut-through in the cluttered house music market.

For Kate’s Mat Clear Album, bright colours and layered handwriting were combined with white space and imagery of clear skies. This play on the contrast between chaos and clarity was our interpretation of the music on Kate’s most diverse underground house album.
